Software Engineer:

If you are interested in pursuing this position, there is an end-user test followed by a programming test both designed to test your writing, communication, research and problem solving skills.

Persons with demonstratable relevent skills and experience can justify pay without certification requirements.

Straight-time overtime and no limit or minimums on overtime. 80 hours per year vacation granted pro-rata with 80 hour overtime bank.

20% of base time (8 hours per week) allowed for on-site self-study.

The Sun Java certifications and/or Microsoft .Net certifications are key to your success in this job, therefore pay raises are tied to these certifications. Your work will directly involve these technologies which will enable you to pass these certifications quickly.

Sun Certified Programmer (SCJP) Add $3000
Sun Certified Web Component Developer (SCWCD) Add $5000
Sun Certified Business Component Developer (SCBCD) Add $5000
Sun Certified Developer for Java Web Services (SCDJWS) Add $5000
Sun Certified Enterprise Architect (SCEA) Add $10,000
Sun Certified Developer (SCJD) Add $7500
Sun Certified Mobile Application Developer (SCMAD) Add $7500

Microsoft Certified Application Developer
Exam 70–316*: Developing and Implementing Windows-based Applications with Microsoft Visual C# .NET and Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Add $5000
Exam 70–320*: Developing XML Web Services and Server Components with Microsoft Visual C# and the Microsoft .NET Framework Add $5000
Exam 70–340: Implementing Security for Applications with Microsoft Visual C# .NET Add $5000

There are also many other certifications associated with DB2 and WebSphere that you can branch into based on your interests once you have developed your basic programming skills. If you add a few certifications to your list of accomplishments, you will see that your salary will increase dramatically. You can also increase your take home pay by working regular additional hours. You can work 80 hour weeks and double your pay. In addition, we offer periodic bonuses based on performance and successful project completions.

Certifications are not the only way to success. If you can read on your own and retain and apply new knowledge, then you can bypass having to learn irrelevent "pass the test" knowledge and focus squarely on learning to solve real problems and to improve your professional capabilities. While certifications help to justify pay, productivity, problem solving ability, good design skills, effective communication, and learning from past mistakes are the real keys to success in software development. The term "Software Professional" implies the commitment to learn technology as it evolves, before you need it at work.
